Aurangabad Ace: Kartika and Varad Triumph at Asian U14 Tennis Championship

Aurangabad, January 19, 2024: The Endurance – MSLTA Asian under 14 Tennis Championship witnessed a display of exceptional talent as Kartika Padmakumar of Karnataka and Varad Undre of Maharashtra secured victory in the girls and boys singles categories, respectively. The championship, organized by MSLTA and Endurance under the auspices of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), All India Tennis Association (AITA), and the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA), took place at the Endurance Tennis Complex in Aurangabad.

In the boys’ final, Varad Undre, a 7th standard student of Dnyandip English Medium School Pune, displayed remarkable skill by upsetting top-seeded Shounak Suvarna with a score of 7-5, 6-1, securing the coveted boys singles title.

On the girls’ side, 7th standard student Kartika Padmakumar from Gear International School, Bengaluru, claimed a memorable double crown. She first defeated top seed Aahan A. with a score of 6-0, 6-3 in the singles category. Later, in the doubles final, Kartika partnered with Aahan A. to secure a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Shibani Gupte and Vrandika Rajput, clinching the doubles title as well.

The winners received a trophy and 300 ATF points, while the runners-up were awarded a trophy and 250 ATF points. The prize distribution ceremony took place in the presence of Lt. Colonel SJS Dhillon from the Army Corps of Engineers, Mr. Abhinav Mishra from Endurance, tournament supervisor Mrs. Vaishali Shekatkar, and other dignitaries.
