Ahmednagar’s Tribute: AhilyaNagar Renaming Celebrates Ahilya Devi’s Legacy

In a significant move, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced the official renaming of Ahmednagar as AhilyaNagar, paying homage to the revered Punyashlok Ahilya Devi. The decision, endorsed by the State cabinet, aims to immortalize Ahilya Devi’s remarkable legacy and inspire future generations to emulate her ideals.

Ajit Pawar, while announcing the renaming, expressed his gratification in fulfilling the aspirations of Ahmednagar’s residents and the entire district. He underscored the importance of preserving Ahilya Devi’s teachings, work, and memory to motivate and guide future leaders.

The decision to rename Ahmednagar to AhilyaNagar received widespread support, with Pawar acknowledging the pivotal roles played by MLAs Sarveshree Sangram Jagtap, Dattamama Bharne, Ashutosh Kale, and Nitin Pawar.
