Administrative Artistry: Monika Singh’s Journey from Pune to Solapur

In a recent administrative reshuffle, Monika Singh, a distinguished bureaucrat in the Maharashtra government, has been appointed as the Additional Collector of Solapur District. This move comes after her successful stint as the Joint Commissioner at the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Besides her administrative achievements, Monika is renowned for her significant contributions to Urdu poetry, particularly in the realm of Ghazals.

Monika Singh, who assumed the position on February 13th, brings with her a wealth of experience and a multifaceted background. Holding a Master’s degree in History and Urdu Literature, she has not only excelled in bureaucratic roles but has also made a mark as a poet. Some of her notable works in Urdu literature include “Lams,” “Shahar Ke Khwaab,” and “Baat Baaki Hai.”

This transition in Monika’s career follows the transfer of Tushar Thombre, the former Additional Collector of Solapur, creating an opportunity for her to take charge and contribute to the administration of Solapur District. As a seasoned bureaucrat, Monika has previously served as a Sub-Divisional Officer in Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara districts.

In light of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, the Election Commission of India has initiated the transfer of several bureaucrats, including senior police officers, as per standard protocol. Monika Singh’s appointment as the Additional Collector of Solapur aligns with this process, showcasing the government’s strategic placement of experienced officials in key positions.

Kumar Ashirwad, the Solapur District Collector, will oversee the conduct of the Lok Sabha Election in the Solapur Lok Sabha constituency. Simultaneously, Monika Singh, now serving as the Additional Collector in Solapur, will be entrusted with Election responsibilities for the Madha Constituency, highlighting her diverse skill set and administrative capabilities.
