4,500 Teachers to be Appointed in ZP Schools Across 13 Districts in Maharashtra

In a significant development, the state education department in Maharashtra has granted approval to fill vacant teacher positions in zilla parishad (ZP) schools across 13 districts. This decision brings considerable relief to various stakeholders involved in the education sector within the state.

According to Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare, the department has recently issued orders to initiate the recruitment process for nearly 4,500 vacant teaching posts. The recruitment will be carried out by considering candidates who have successfully cleared the Maharashtra Teacher Ability and Intelligence Test (MAHA TAIT).

Mandhare’s order, issued on August 17, signifies a positive move toward addressing the shortage of teachers in ZP schools. The order states, “The department has received approval from the finance department to conduct recruitment for 80% of the total vacancies in Maharashtra. Accordingly, we have instructed the 13 ZPs across the state to commence recruitment promptly and complete the process as quickly as possible while adhering to all the stipulated rules and eligibility criteria of the state.”

The recruitment process will be concentrated in the Panchayats Extension to the Scheduled Areas (PESA) within the aforementioned 13 districts. These districts include Ahmednagar, Amravati, Chandrapur, Dhule, Gadhchiroli, Jalgaon, Nanded, Nandurbar, Nashik, Palghar, Pune, Thane, and Yavatmal.

Mandhare also mentioned that the recruitment process has already begun in some districts since Monday. Zilla parishad bodies have been directed to ensure that applicants meet the TAIT eligibility criteria, which include having passed the exam in 2022 and belonging to the Scheduled Caste PESA category. The selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the examination and their relevant teaching experience.

This initiative to fill vacant teaching positions in ZP schools is a positive step toward ensuring the availability of quality education for students. It also acknowledges the importance of recruiting qualified and capable teachers to foster a conducive learning environment. As the recruitment process progresses, it is hoped that it will contribute to the improvement of the education system in the state and benefit both teachers and students alike.
