23rd MUHS Convocation: Celebrating Excellence in Health Sciences in Nashik

Maharashtra Health Science University (MUHS) is set to host its 23rd Convocation Ceremony on Friday, February 23, at the university headquarters in Nashik. The event will commence at 11 am with a training workshop for faculty members, led by the university’s secretary, Dr Rajendra Bangar.

Lt. Gen. Dr Madhuri Kanitkar (Retired) PVSM, AVSM, VSM, will preside over the convocation ceremony, with Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais participating virtually. Dignitaries attending the ceremony include Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hassan Mushrif and Dr Nitin Gangane from KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research in Belgaum.

The convocation aims to confer special general degrees to students who have excelled in health sciences. Notably, internationally acclaimed otorhinolaryngologist, Dr Christopher D’Souza, will be honored for his significant contributions to the field. Dr D’Souza’s research on Otosclerosis, a condition affecting hearing abilities, has earned him international recognition and awards. His textbooks on ear disorders have played a vital role in assisting hearing-impaired children and their families globally.

To ensure widespread accessibility, the convocation ceremony will be live-streamed on YouTube, encouraging the participation of students, faculty, parents, and interested individuals in celebrating the achievements in health sciences.
