US Military Strikes Back: Three Precision Hits on Houthi Targets in Yemen Amid Escalating Tensions

In a series of “successful self-defense strikes,” the United States military conducted three targeted operations against Houthi targets in Yemen on Friday, according to a statement from the White House. The strikes come in response to escalating threats from the Iran-backed Houthi militia, marking the fourth pre-emptive strike by the US in the past week.

White House spokesperson John Kirby emphasized that these actions were undertaken in self-defense, aiming to neutralize Houthi missile launchers prepared for imminent attacks. The strikes not only serve as a defensive measure but also contribute to enhancing the safety of international waters for naval vessels and merchant shipping, Kirby added.

The backdrop to these defensive actions includes a recent incident in which the Houthi militia launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles at a US-owned tanker ship on Thursday. The missiles struck the water near the vessel, causing no injuries or damage, as reported by the US military.

These developments underscore the growing tensions in the Red Sea, posing disruptions to global trade and raising concerns about the potential for a wider conflict in the Middle East. As the situation unfolds, the US continues to respond assertively to safeguard its interests and ensure the safety of international waters.
