Milan’s Electrifying Move: Iveco Bus Lands 120-Million-Euro Contract for 153 Electric Buses”

Iveco Bus, the urban, intercity, and tourist bus brand under the Iveco Group, has clinched a significant contract to supply 153 new electric buses to Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM), Milan’s public transport company. The contract, valued at over 120 million euros, is a pivotal step in Milan’s commitment to embracing sustainable and accessible mobility.

ATM’s strategic plan focuses on converting its entire urban fleet to 1,200 electric buses, accompanied by essential changes in the surrounding ecosystem. This includes the renewal of depots and the establishment of new facilities seamlessly integrated into the city’s design. The contract with Iveco Bus, contributing to ATM’s Full Electric plan, indicates that by 2026, half of Milan’s in-service buses will be electric.

The tender encompasses 153 new 12-meter electric buses, along with a comprehensive full-service maintenance package spanning a decade. Initial deliveries are anticipated in the first quarter of 2025, with the remaining buses scheduled for completion by June 2026.

Domenico Nucera, President of the Bus Business Unit at Iveco Group, expressed pride in contributing to Milan’s sustainable mobility initiative. He stated, “The competitive total cost of ownership offering of IVECO BUS, combined with our close proximity to ATM, allows us to provide a tailored solution that meets the specific needs of this fast-paced city.”
