Israeli Embassy Suggests Indian Beaches as Alternatives After Maldives Bans Israeli Passport Holders

In a diplomatic move following the Maldives government’s decision to bar entry for Israeli passport holders, the Israeli embassy in India has taken to social media to suggest alternative beach destinations in India, warmly welcoming Israeli tourists.

“Since the Maldives is no longer welcoming Israelis, here are some beautiful and amazing Indian beaches where Israeli tourists are warmly welcomed and treated with utmost hospitality,” the Israeli embassy’s social media post read, accompanied by stunning images of Indian beach destinations frequented by Israeli diplomats.

Among the suggested destinations are the pristine beaches of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the picturesque Lakshadweep Islands, as well as the vibrant coastal regions of Goa and Kerala.

Maldives Implements Ban on Israeli Passport Holders

On Sunday, June 2, the Maldives government announced a ban on the entry of individuals holding Israeli passports into the country. Maldives Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihsaan, made the announcement during a press conference at the Maldives President’s Office.

A press release from the Maldives President’s Office stated, “President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, following a recommendation from the Cabinet, has resolved to impose a ban on Israeli passports.”

The release further elaborated, “The Cabinet decision entails amending necessary laws to prevent Israeli passport holders from entering the Maldives and establishing a Cabinet subcommittee to oversee these efforts.”

Additionally, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has appointed a special envoy to assess the needs of Palestinians. He has also initiated a fundraising campaign to provide assistance to the people of Palestine, in collaboration with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

Ongoing Conflict in the Middle East

The announcement comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, with Israel engaged in a military operation against Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The conflict escalated after the October 7 attack, where hundreds of Hamas terrorists targeted Israeli civilians, resulting in numerous casualties and kidnappings.

Israel has maintained that its military operation in Gaza will continue until Hamas is neutralized.
