Claro Colombia Hits 1 Million Milestone: Rapid 5G Adoption and Expansion Unveiled

Claro Colombia, a part of America Movil, proudly announced that one million of its postpaid customers have already embraced 5G services during the Claro Tech Summit. The company made significant strides in 5G adoption by activating services two weeks ago in six major cities: Barranquilla, Bogota, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, and Medellin.

Key Highlights of Claro’s 5G Achievements:

  1. 1 Million 5G Users: Claro Colombia celebrates the accomplishment of reaching one million postpaid customers who are actively enjoying the benefits of 5G services.
  2. 6% 5G Data Traffic: Claro reported that 6 percent of mobile data traffic in areas with 5G availability is already being utilized on the advanced 5G network.
  3. Expansion Plans: Claro Colombia expressed its commitment to further expanding 5G coverage, with plans to reach 14 more cities in 2024, ultimately aiming for a total of 20 cities by the end of the year.
  4. Prepaid 5G Packages: In a bid to democratize 5G access, Claro announced upcoming prepaid 5G packages, extending faster mobile internet speeds and improved experiences to a broader customer base.
  5. 5G Antenna Leadership: With 930 5G antennas, Claro claims the title of the operator with the largest number of 5G antennas, solidifying its commitment to delivering a robust 5G network.

Business Solutions and Network Expansion:

Claro Colombia isn’t just focusing on consumer adoption; the company also revealed 5G-based business solutions. These solutions aim to empower businesses in sectors such as energy, mining, ports, manufacturing, and logistics to harness the full potential of technology for digital transformation.

In addition to 5G advancements, Claro emphasized the extensive reach of its 4G network, covering 1,102 municipal capitals and around 800 small rural towns. The company has deployed over 115,000 kilometers of fiber optics across the country, ensuring connectivity from San Andres to Leticia.

Furthermore, Claro recently deployed fiber optic infrastructure in Socorro, providing high-speed connectivity to over 7,348 premises. This initiative complements the existing 4G and 4.5 Networks in the locality, showcasing Claro’s dedication to comprehensive network expansion.

As Claro Colombia continues to lead in 5G adoption, network infrastructure, and digital solutions, the company sets a benchmark for connectivity and innovation in the Colombian telecommunications landscape.
