Border on High Alert: CBSA Vigilant After Tragic Mass Shootings in Maine

In response to the devastating mass shootings in the state of Maine, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has taken swift action by issuing an “armed and dangerous” alert to its personnel stationed along the US-Canada border. The shootings, which occurred in Lewiston, Maine, resulted in the tragic loss of at least 18 lives and left 13 people injured. The suspect, identified as Robert Card, a 40-year-old trained firearms instructor and a member of the US Army Reserves, remains at large, sparking an extensive manhunt by law enforcement.

The CBSA’s alert, released late on Thursday, has directed its officers to be vigilant for Robert Card and to collaborate closely with their law enforcement counterparts in the United States. The agency acknowledges the gravity of the situation and expresses its solidarity with the citizens of Maine and all those impacted by this tragedy. The safety and security of both nations are of paramount concern, and the CBSA, in coordination with Canadian and US authorities, is determined to safeguard the integrity of Canada’s borders and prevent any potential threats or illegal entries.

The city of Lewiston, the site of these tragic events, is located approximately 260 kilometers southwest of Canada’s New Brunswick province. As of Friday, an extensive manhunt involving hundreds of law enforcement officers is underway to locate and apprehend Robert Card, who is considered to be “armed and dangerous.”
