Moreover, sunlight contributes to mood enhancement by triggering serotonin production, fostering feelings of well-being and happiness. The influence on circadian rhythm also promotes better sleep, as highlighted by a 2022 study in the Journal of Pineal Research.

However, the benefits come with significant risks. Dr Ramdas warns about prolonged UV exposure leading to skin damage, including sunburn, premature aging, and an elevated risk of skin cancer. The World Health Organization identifies UV radiation as a major risk factor for non-melanoma skin cancer.
