Sadhguru Unveils the Toxicity of Anger: A Call to Take Control of Your Emotions

In a recent video shared on Instagram, Sadhguru, the renowned spiritual guru and founder of Isha Foundation, delved into the topic of anger, emphasizing the need for individuals to take control of their emotions. In the video, he shares his perspective on personal responsibility and how one’s internal state should not be dictated by external circumstances.

“My life is not about them. It’s about me. It’s about how I am. This is about me. How they are is their choice. How I am, is my choice. This is my way. No matter what they do, I am like this because I have not given that freedom to anybody, that somebody can freak me, somebody can make me angry, somebody can make me happy, somebody can make me unhappy. These privileges, I kept to myself. It’s time you do that too, because if somebody else can decide what can happen within you right now, isn’t this the ultimate slavery?” Sadhguru states in the video.

This is not the first time Sadhguru has addressed the topic of anger. In a previous interview published on Sadhguru Wisdom, he explored the concept in depth. When asked about life and how to avoid getting angry, Sadhguru responded, “Today medical science proves to you – when you are angry, you are actually poisoning your system. We have always known this, but today chemical tests clearly show you that you are actually poisoning your system, generating poison in the system, by being angry.”

He underscores the unconscious nature of anger and the importance of gaining control over one’s mind. “So why would you want to poison yourself? It is not a conscious act. You are poisoning yourself, causing unpleasantness to yourself, only because your mind is not taking instructions from you,” he adds.

Sadhguru advocates for a shift in perspective, stating that human life should not be a reflection of external situations. Instead, he believes that human consciousness should have the power to shape situations. “If I’m good, everything around me becomes good. This should be the reality. Right now, if things around me are whichever way, I will become that way – no..no. Human consciousness should create situations. Right now, situations are creating human consciousness. That’s not the right way to shape human life.”
