Mega Health Camp in Pune Addresses Healthcare Needs of Thousands

Pune, August 07, 2023: In a remarkable endeavor to extend medical care to the underprivileged, more than 60,000 individuals from Pune district and its environs have reaped the benefits of a Mega multi-specialty health camp focused on lifestyle diseases screening.

The event, jointly organized by the State Government in collaboration with the Someshwar Foundation and Niramaya Foundation, Mumbai, took place on Sunday and witnessed an impressive turnout.

Located at the Agriculture ground in Shivaji Nagar, the Mega Health Camp was inaugurated by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar. The occasion was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Guardian Minister of Pune, Chandrakant Patil, and State Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Chhagan Bhujbal.

Expert doctors hailing from diverse medical fields such as neurology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ENT, cardiology, and more, undertook the responsibility of conducting thorough examinations and screenings for the attendees. This initiative provided essential medical evaluations and free medicines to thousands of individuals grappling with various health issues.

The primary objective of the Mega Health Camp was to extend a helping hand to those who have been overlooked due to financial constraints, ensuring they receive the vital medical attention they require. The camp encompassed multiple departments, each with designated examination rooms catering to different diseases. The event organizers also ensured provisions for free surgeries for patients in need.

DCM Devendra Fadnavis, who graced the occasion with his presence, stressed the importance of healthcare, particularly for the marginalized sections of society. He applauded the altruistic service rendered by the medical practitioners and event organizers. In a move to further enhance healthcare accessibility, the Government of Maharashtra has introduced the provision of free treatment up to ₹5 lakh under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, while also expanding the number of hospitals participating in the scheme.

This Mega Health Camp is not just a one-time event but signifies a significant stride towards addressing the healthcare needs of the state. It underscores the Government’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of its citizens, especially in the face of the challenges posed by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
