Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Sets Record with 300 Crore Property Tax Collection in Just 82 Days

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has achieved a remarkable milestone by collecting property tax amounting to 300 crores in a record time of just 82 days. This success can be attributed to the innovative strategies adopted by the Taxation and Tax Collection Department of the Municipal Corporation, as well as the widespread distribution of bills to all property owners.

Currently, there are 6,02,203 different types of properties in the city. The comprehensive bill distribution undertaken by the Municipal Corporation has had a positive impact on tax collection, with approximately 40 percent of property owners already having paid their taxes in full.

The Taxation and Tax Collection Department of the PCMC has employed various means to appeal to taxpayers and encourage timely payment. Awareness campaigns have been organized through SMS, telecalling, IVRS, as well as other methods such as calling, reels competition, hoardings, pamphlets, and rickshaw appeals.

Property owners have also benefited from substantial concessions offered by the municipal corporation, including a 5 percent discount for advance payment of property tax and a 5 percent discount for online tax payment. As a result, nearly 500 crores have been paid online, boosting the campaign for a paperless and digital India.

The tax collection breakdown is as follows:

  • Online/BBPS: 218 crores
  • Cash: 39 crores
  • Cheque/DD: 26 crores
  • Others (RTGS/NEFT/IMPS/EDC): 20 crores

Thanks to the previous year’s confiscation actions, successful projects, and the incorporation of modern technology, the civic body has taken the lead in tax collection this year right from the start. The municipal corporation intends to maintain this momentum throughout the year to ensure efficient tax recovery. The tax system of the PCMC aims to be transparent and citizen-centric, with surveys conducted to maintain accurate records of tax payments. Commissioner Shekhar Singh has appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the survey process.

The impressive achievement of collecting 300 crores in property tax within 82 days showcases the commitment and efforts of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in promoting timely tax payments and ensuring the development and welfare of the city.
