Rahatani, Pimpri Chinchwad – Residents of Park Royale Cooperative Housing Society in Rahatani, Pimpri Chinchwad, are expressing their frustration over the absence of an e-vehicle (EV) discount in their property tax bills for the year 2023-24. They have written to the civic body, urging them to include a 5% discount in their bills and have declared that they will withhold paying the tax until the discount is applied.
In a letter addressed to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), the residents highlighted that the 5% discount for common EV infrastructure has not been implemented despite their continuous follow-ups over the past month.
Moreover, the residents also requested a waiver of the user charge, as their society is a zero-waste community and manages waste segregation, collection, and processing independently, without relying on the civic body’s services.
Nilesh Deshmukh, the head of the PCMC tax department, acknowledged that the EV discount has not been granted to any user thus far, as the number of applications received for the discount has been negligible. Regarding the user charges, he stated that it is under the purview of the health department to make a decision.
The lack of the promised EV discount in property tax bills and the non-existence of waivers for a zero-waste society have left the residents of Park Royale Cooperative Housing Society dissatisfied. They are seeking swift action from the civic body to rectify these issues and provide the benefits they are entitled to.
