Last Chance to Update Aadhaar Details Online for Free: Here’s How

Aadhaar Centers in Pune

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has granted a deadline extension for online Aadhaar card updates until June 14, 2024. With just around 10 days remaining, Indian residents have the opportunity to update their Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents free of charge.

Why Update Aadhaar?

Aadhaar, the 12-digit unique identity number issued to Indian residents, plays a pivotal role in accessing government services and conducting secure financial transactions. Keeping Aadhaar information up-to-date helps in preventing duplication and detecting fraudulent activities.

How to Update Aadhaar Online

To initiate the online Aadhaar update process:

  1. Visit the UIDAI Website: Navigate to uidai.gov.in and select your preferred language.
  2. Access the Update Feature: Click on the “My Aadhaar” tab and choose “Update Your Aadhaar” from the dropdown menu.
  3. Proceed with the Update: You’ll be directed to the “Update Aadhaar Details (Online)” page. Click on “Document Update.”
  4. Authenticate Yourself: Enter your UID number and the Captcha code, then click “Send OTP” to receive a one-time password on your registered mobile number.
  5. Log In: After receiving the OTP, enter it and click “Login.”
  6. Select and Fill in Details: Choose the demographic details you wish to update (name, address, date of birth, etc.) and accurately fill in the new information.
  7. Submit and Upload Documents: Upon completing the necessary changes, click “Submit” and upload scanned copies of the required documents to support your update request.
  8. Finalize the Update: Click “Submit Update Request.” You’ll receive an Update Request Number (URN) via SMS for tracking the status of your request.

Required Documents for Aadhaar Update

Here are the documents accepted to support your Aadhaar update on the myAadhaar portal:

  • Proof of Identity: Passport, Driving Licence, PAN card, Voter ID, Government-issued ID cards, Marksheets, Marriage certificate, Ration card.
  • Proof of Address: Bank statements (not older than 3 months), Electricity or gas connection bills (not older than 3 months), Passport, Marriage certificate, Ration card, Property tax receipts (not older than a year), Government-issued ID cards.

Note: Biometric details cannot be updated online for free. To update biometric features such as facial photographs, iris scans, or fingerprints, visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.

What Happens After June 14

Post-June 14, 2024, a fee will be applicable for Aadhaar updates. Online updates will incur a charge of Rs 25, while offline updates will cost Rs 50.
