The state government has promptly launched a thorough investigation into this alarming incident, with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar assuring stringent actions against those responsible.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar revealed the discovery of multiple documents within the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, purportedly carrying the signature and seal of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The state government has swiftly filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Mumbai police, vowing to identify and hold accountable the perpetrators behind this fraudulent activity. Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar raised the issue in the Legislative Assembly, underscoring its significance.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) officially lodged a complaint with the Marine Drive police station, highlighting the unauthorized use of counterfeit stamps and signatures on various applications. The CMO clarified that documents bearing the Chief Minister’s signature typically pass through the Chief Minister’s secretariat before further processing, indicating a potential breach in the internal process.
Approximately 10–12 letters have been identified with falsified signatures and seals, prompting immediate action and notification to higher authorities. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has been briefed on the matter, emphasizing its gravity.
A spokesperson from the CMO stressed the need for heightened caution and vigilance among CMO personnel. The anticipation is that the culprits will be identified and brought to justice with the assistance of law enforcement agencies.
