Diwali Delight: Central Government Employees Receive 30-Day Salary Bonus and Anticipate DA Hike

The festive season just got brighter for central government employees, as the Modi government has bestowed a generous bonus this Diwali. In a heartwarming gesture, Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ employees are in for a treat, receiving a bonus equivalent to 30 days of their salary.

Finance Ministry’s Gift of Gratitude

In the spirit of Diwali, the Finance Ministry has unveiled a non-productivity linked (ad-hoc) bonus for central government employees. This bonus primarily targets Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ non-gazetted employees, who were not covered under any productivity-linked bonus scheme. The bonus serves as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service and hard work.

Diwali Bonus Details

On the 17th of October, the Finance Ministry announced a bonus of INR 7000 for the fiscal year 2022-23, dedicated to central government’s non-gazetted employees. Additionally, the expenditure department of the Finance Ministry has confirmed that this non-productivity linked bonus will also extend to eligible employees of Central Para Military Forces and the Armed Forces.

Eligibility and Distribution

Central employees who continue in service until the 31st of March 2023 and have rendered a minimum of six months of service during the fiscal year 2022-23 are eligible to receive this Diwali bonus. With Diwali festivities approaching on the 12th of November this year, the bonus announcement is set to illuminate the celebrations for the employees and their families.

Anticipation for Dearness Allowance Hike

Adding to the festive excitement, sources suggest that the Modi government may be gearing up to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central employees and pensioners. The proposed hike, which stands at 4%, would elevate the allowance to 46%.
