Sony PlayStation 5 Update: Exciting New Features Unveiled in Latest Software Update

Sony has just launched a big software update for the PS5, giving gamers worldwide some cool new features. First off, they’ve made the sound on the DualSense controllers even better.

Now, you can hear game sounds and chat more clearly because the controller speakers can pump out louder audio. Plus, they’ve used fancy AI stuff to make sure background noise doesn’t mess up your voice chat during games.

Another neat addition is to the Share Screen feature. Now, people watching you play can join in on the fun by using pointers and sending emoji reactions. They can even draw on the screen to highlight stuff or send emojis to cheer you on. If you’re not a fan of these distractions, don’t worry, because you can turn them off.

And for those who like to customize, you can now tweak the brightness of the PS5’s power indicator. There are three settings: dim, medium, and bright (which is the default). Unfortunately, you can’t turn off the power indicator altogether.

They’ve also added support for new emojis in messages, so you can express yourself even better. Plus, the update includes some behind-the-scenes stuff to make the system run smoother and more stable.

How to Update Your PS5 Console System Software

  1. Navigate to Settings: Go to Settings > System.
  2. Select System Software: Select System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
  3. Check for Updates: Update Available appears if a newer version is available. Select Update System Software to update.
  4. Alternative Method: If restarting the system software download fails, follow the instructions below.

Updating PS5 System Software using a PC or Mac

  1. Prepare USB Drive: Turn off your PS5 console. Using a PC or Mac, create a folder named “PS5” on a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT. Inside that folder, create another folder named “UPDATE”.
  2. Download Update File: Download the PS5 console update file from the official Sony website and save it in the “UPDATE” folder. Save the file as “PS5UPDATE.PUP”.
  3. Ensure Space: There must be approximately 1.1GB of free space on the USB drive.
  4. Plug and Start in Safe Mode: Plug the USB drive containing the file into your PS5 console. Start your PS5 console in Safe Mode by pressing and holding the power button, releasing after the second beep. Select Update System Software, then Update from USB Storage Device > OK.
