Sony Access Controller: Price and Availability Details Revealed

Sony has finally unveiled key details about its highly anticipated gaming accessory, the Sony Access Controller. The company first introduced the Access Controller earlier this year at CES 2023, teasing gamers with its innovative features. Now, after six months since its initial announcement, Sony has provided information on pricing and availability.

According to Sony’s recent announcement, the Sony Access Controller will be launched on December 6th. The gaming accessory will be priced at $89.99 USD. Pre-orders for the controller will open on July 21st at 10 AM through direct.playstation.com and select retailers in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal. Pre-orders will also be available on the same day through select retailers in other global markets. However, there is currently no information about availability in India.

As for the features of the Sony Access Controller, it boasts a circular design with customizable buttons to suit individual users’ preferences. Sony emphasizes that users can map buttons to create up to 30 control profiles, adjust stick settings, enable or disable commands, and even disable buttons to prevent accidental pressing. Additionally, users can pair up to two Access controllers with one DualSense Wireless Controller for collaborative gameplay.

The controller is equipped with 19 button caps, including flat, pillow, curve, overhang, and wide flat button caps that cover two button sockets. It also includes four expansion ports, including a 3.5mm standard AUX port, allowing players to connect additional buttons, trigger switches, and compatible accessories. Furthermore, the Access Controller provides 23 button cap tags that players can swap to easily mark the mapped inputs for each button.

In terms of functionality, the Sony Access Controller enables users to select their preferred orientation, map different inputs to various buttons, toggle buttons on or off, and even assign multiple inputs to the same button. PlayStation 5 (PS5) users can also create and store control profiles tailored to specific games.

Finally, the Access Controller introduces a toggle mode feature, which allows players to set a button to function like a caps lock key on a keyboard.

The Sony Access Controller promises to enhance the gaming experience for PS5 users with its customizable features and collaborative gameplay capabilities. Gamers can look forward to pre-ordering the controller on July 21st and experiencing the full potential of this exciting accessory upon its launch on December 6th.
