Netflix’s Mobile Odyssey: HADES Hack-and-Slash Adventure Heads to iPhones

In an exciting development for gaming enthusiasts, Netflix has officially confirmed the arrival of the critically acclaimed rogue-like dungeon crawler, Hades, to iPhones in 2024. Developed by Supergiant Games and originally launched in 2020 on multiple platforms, Hades will soon join the growing roster of mobile games offered by Netflix Games for its subscribers.

Hades: A Mythological Odyssey

Hades has garnered attention for its seamless blend of hack-and-slash combat, a narrative inspired by rich mythology, and a touch of subtle humor. Players assume the role of Zagreus, the son of Hades, embarking on a perilous journey to escape the Underworld and ascend to Mount Olympus. The game unfolds across procedurally generated levels in four distinct regions: Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium, and the Temple of Styx, culminating in a showdown with the formidable Hades himself.

The game’s roguelike elements add to the challenge, with each failed attempt resetting Zagreus to the beginning. Players must master their skills across multiple replayable runs, enlisting the help of Olympian gods such as Zeus, Athena, and Ares through the collection of powerful Boons.

Optimized for iOS: Touch and Controllers

Supergiant Games, in collaboration with mobile studio Secret 6, is set to optimize the iOS version for iPhones and iPads. The game will feature native touch controls while also supporting Bluetooth controllers for a more immersive gaming experience. Cloud saving functionality ensures seamless progress synchronization across devices, complemented by the inclusion of achievements.

The iOS version of Hades will require devices running at least iOS 16 and is expected to make its debut on the App Store in 2024. Netflix subscribers will have exclusive access to the game at no additional cost, expanding the streaming giant’s library of mobile games. While Hades is currently exclusive to iOS, there is no active development for an Android version.

Hades 2: A Glimpse into the Future

Looking beyond the iOS launch, fans of Hades can anticipate the arrival of Hades 2. Developed by Supergiant Games, the sequel is slated for early access release on PC in 2024. Promising to expand the Hades universe with new characters, realms, and weapons, Hades 2 is set to captivate players with fresh challenges and adventures.

As the iOS launch brings Hades to millions of additional Netflix subscribers, the mythological adventure is poised to leave an indelible mark on mobile gaming, offering an immersive and challenging experience on iPhones in the coming year.
