Meta Slashes Prices on Quest 2 VR Headsets and Accessories

Meta, the tech giant formerly known as Facebook, has announced a significant and permanent price reduction for its popular Quest 2 virtual reality headset. The move, aimed at making virtual reality more accessible, involves a $50 price cut across both the 128GB and 256GB versions of the headset.

Previously, the Quest 2 had seen discounted rates during Black Friday, but Meta has now made these reductions permanent. The 128GB variant, originally priced at $299, is now available at $249, while the 256GB model sees a price drop from $349 to $299.

In addition to the headset price reduction, Meta has also revised the pricing for various Quest 2 accessories. The Quest 2 Elite Strap with a battery is now priced at $89.99, down from its earlier cost of $119.99. The standalone Quest 2 Elite Strap has also been discounted from $59.99 to $49.99.

Furthermore, the Quest 2 Carrying Case has seen a price adjustment from $59.99 to $44.99. The Quest 2 Active Pack is now available at $59.99, reduced from $69.99, and the Quest 2 Fit Pack is priced at $39.99, down from $49.99.

This strategic move by Meta follows earlier adjustments to the Quest 2’s pricing. In July 2022, the price of the headset had increased by $100 to $399.99, only to be reverted to $299.99 with the announcement of the Quest 3 in June. With a VR game library boasting over 500 titles and the integration of Roblox into the Meta Quest Store last year, the revised pricing for the Quest 2 seeks to provide a more budget-friendly alternative to the $500 Quest 3.
