A French study conducted in December 2023 analyzed data from over 100,000 individuals. The results highlighted a strong association between eating later in the day and an increased risk of heart diseases. The findings specifically suggested that even an hourly delay in the first meal could elevate the odds of experiencing a cardiovascular crisis by 6 percent. For example, individuals having breakfast at 9 am were found to be 6 percent more likely to suffer from heart conditions compared to those who ate at 8 am.

The timing of the last meal of the day also plays a crucial role. Experts emphasize that eating the final meal later at night is linked to a higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. Consuming meals after 8 pm can elevate the risk of stroke by 28 percent compared to eating before 8 pm.

Furthermore, experts suggest that longer breaks between meals can contribute to reducing heart disease risk. A longer fasting period between the last meal of the day and the first meal of the next day can be particularly beneficial. This extended fasting duration during the night has been associated with a decreased risk of stroke. The key takeaway is to have meals as early as possible in the day and to cease eating at a timely hour for optimal heart health in the long run.
