Pune Celebrates 50 Years of Friendship with Korea: A Special Art Exhibition

Pune, the cultural capital of Maharashtra, is gearing up to embrace a momentous occasion – the first-ever ‘Korean Special Art Exhibition’ taking place from the 13th to 15th of October 2023. Located at Sant Dnyaneshwar Hall, Savitribai Phule Pune University, this extraordinary exhibition will be open to all from 11 am to 6 pm. Featuring paintings from 30 distinguished Korean artists, this unique event serves as a tribute to 50 years of strong diplomatic ties between India and Korea.

A Harmonious Blend of Art and Diplomacy

The ‘Korean Special Art Exhibition’ is made possible through the collaboration of the K-Art International Exchange Association of Korea and esteemed institutions such as Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) – Science and Technology Park, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), with support from the Art Pune Foundation.

The grand inauguration of this cultural spectacle is set for the evening of Friday, the 13th of October at 5.30 pm at Sant Dnyaneshwar Hall, SPPU. All are welcome to attend this remarkable celebration. The event’s inauguration will be graced by distinguished personalities such as Heo Sook, Chairperson of K-Art International Exchange Association of Korea; Kim Young-OG, Consul General of the Republic of Korea; Rahul Mahiwal, IAS – Metropolitan Commissioner PMRDA; Dr. Suresh Gosavi, Vice-Chancellor – SPPU; Dr. Parag Kalkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor – SPPU; Dr. Praful Pawar, Registrar – SPPU; Dilip Band, IAS (Retd.) and President of Science and Technology Park, Pune; Rekha Magar, President of FICCI FLO Pune Chapter, along with Dr. Rajendra Jagdale, Director General and CEO of Science and Technology Park, Pune.

Dr. Rajendra Jagdale expressed, “India and Korea share a thriving business, technological, and cultural association. We are hosting the ‘Korean Special Art Exhibition’ to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations and to further promote cultural exchanges. Pune, known for its cultural richness, is the ideal location for this art exhibition, with a community of art enthusiasts who appreciate various forms of art.”

An Artistic Encounter with Korea

The ‘Korean Special Art Exhibition’ in Pune is poised to captivate visitors by providing them with the unique opportunity to view Korean paintings up close and meet the artists themselves. This event will foster stronger connections between Pune and Korea, facilitating collaborations between local artists and their Korean counterparts. Additionally, it will offer a platform for art collectors to explore new horizons. The exhibition will feature the works of 30 renowned Korean artists, boasting over 80 masterpieces that span various styles, from abstract and landscapes to impressionist and contemporary. The use of different media, including oil, watercolors, acrylic 3D, and blended media, promises a diverse and enriching visual experience.
