Future of Farming: Baramati’s ADT to Teach Farmers AI-Enhanced Agricultural Practices

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Agriculture Development Trust (ADT) in Baramati is set to launch an online course aimed at harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to support farmers and address climate change challenges. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, Sharad Pawar, made this announcement during a press conference.

Titled ‘Artificial Intelligence for Agriculture Technology and Climate Change,’ the course is slated for release in the upcoming year. Sharad Pawar, a former Union minister and co-founder of ADT, revealed that the program has been meticulously designed in collaboration with the University of Oxford.

This innovative course will offer farmers valuable insights and tools for better management and yield prediction, water resource management, drought forecasting, efficient farm resource allocation, soil management, crop rotation strategies, pest and disease control, and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices. ADT’s official release emphasized the course’s potential in transforming modern farming practices.

Ajit Jaokar, the course director for Artificial Intelligence: Cloud and Edge Implementation at the University of Oxford, who was also present at the press conference, highlighted their dedication to making AI technology accessible and practical for farmers, ensuring it has a positive impact at the grassroots level.
