“Duvidha” Sheds Light on Awareness and Illegal Trafficking of Organ Donation

Pune, August 10: India, while being the second-largest organ donor in the world, contributes only about 0.1% to the global organ donation pool. Recognizing the significance of raising awareness about organ donation and combating illegal trafficking of organs, a short film titled “Duvidha” was showcased at the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by Fleetguard.

Present at the screening were Sanjay Kulkarni, President; Niranjan Kirloskar, Managing Director; Piush Shrivastav, Media Head of Fleetguard Filtrum; and the cast of “Duvidha,” including Girish Pardesi, Aparna Menon, Shital Raut, Radheya Kapre, Sujeet Deshpande, Nikhil Joshi. Renowned actor Mohan Joshi also features in the short film.

Produced by Rahul’s Grafix, “Duvidha” serves as a sequel to the film “Raakh” and is directed by Rahul Panshikar. The narrative revolves around a couple in dire need of an organ for their son’s heart transplant surgery. The film poignantly illustrates how individuals can be lured into organ trafficking due to financial incentives. However, the story takes a turn as awareness about the concept of organ donation dawns upon them, preventing a grave mistake. In essence, the film emphasizes the importance of organ donation and highlights concerns about the illegal trade of organs.

After the screening, Abhijit Kelkar shared his personal experience regarding his son’s heart transplant surgery. He stressed the urgent need to increase awareness about organ donation. He also shared insights on the significance of having skilled nursing and technical staff in hospitals.

“Raakh” focused on creating awareness about organ donation, while “Duvidha” delves deeper into its process. Piush Shrivastav mentioned, “Now, it has become the need of the hour for people to understand why organ donation is so important.”

Representatives from the Zonal Transplant Coordination Center (ZTCC) were also present at the event, facilitating organ donation registrations. Post-screening, many attendees were observed filling out online applications for organ donations, reflecting the film’s impact on raising awareness and encouraging action.
