Amitabh Bachchan Offered Role of Dasharath in Nitish Tiwari’s Star-Studded Ramayan

Nitish Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus, “Ramayan,” continues to make waves in the film industry with a stellar cast, and the latest buzz suggests that veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has been offered the pivotal role of King Dasharath. While an official announcement is yet to be made, if confirmed, this marks another milestone in the star-studded cast of the 350-crore-budget movie.

The ensemble cast already includes Ranbir Kapoor portraying Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha. With each casting update, “Ramayan” continues to capture the attention of audiences and critics alike.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Amitabh Bachchan has been approached for a mythological role. Years ago, during Sanjay Khan’s attempt to bring “The Legend of Rama” to the screen with Hrithik Roshan and Zayed Khan, Big B was considered for the role of King Dasharath. However, the project faced setbacks and was eventually shelved.

The collaboration between Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor is not new. In 2022, the two shared the screen in Ayan Mukherji’s “Brahmastra.”

Scheduled to commence filming in March 2024, “Ramayan” aims for a grand Diwali 2025 release. While Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor kick off the shoot in March, Yash is set to join in July, and Sunny Deol will start filming his part in May. The film, envisioned as a three-part series, has generated considerable excitement, and fans eagerly await more updates as the star-studded epic takes shape.
