Actress Jaya Prada Declared ‘Absconding’: Faces Legal Heat in Two Cases

In a significant legal development, veteran film actress and former BJP Member of Parliament, Jaya Prada, has been declared ‘absconding’ by the MP/MLA court in Rampur in connection with two cases related to the violation of the election code of conduct.

The court’s decision to declare Jaya Prada as ‘absconding’ comes after her repeated failure to appear for a court hearing, despite receiving multiple notices and non-bailable warrants against her. The cases pertain to the violation of the election code of conduct during the 2019 elections and were registered in the court of the Special MP/MLA Court in Rampur, specifically at Kemri police station and Swar police station.

Non-Bailable Warrants and Court Order: Magistrate Shobhit Bansal issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Jaya Prada due to her consistent non-appearance on previous hearing dates. Inspector Ranji Trivedi’s report highlighted that the accused was untraceable, and her mobile phone was switched off. In response, a demand was made in court to take action under Section 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) against Jaya Prada.

Police Instructions and Next Hearing Date: The court’s order has instructed the Superintendent of Police to form a special team to apprehend the former MP and ensure her presence at the next hearing on March 6. This directive aims to address the continued absence of Jaya Prada, facilitating the legal proceedings in both cases.

Legal Ramifications: The actress-turned-politician now faces potential legal consequences, with the court taking a stringent stance on her non-compliance with the judicial process. The development underscores the significance of respecting court summons and adhering to legal procedures.
