UDAYAN CARE Empowers Underprivileged Girls at Celebrating Change Summit 2023 in Pune

Pune, 28th June 2023: UDAYAN CARE, a dedicated organization working towards the holistic development and empowerment of underprivileged children and girls in India, successfully organized the Celebrating Change Summit 2023 at FLAME University in Pune from June 22nd to 24th.

The summit witnessed the presence of renowned Bollywood actor Neha Dhupia as the Chief Guest, along with esteemed actor and psychiatrist Dr. Mohan Agashe as the Guest of Honour. The event aimed to engage, educate, and empower the participants through a wide range of activities.

The flagship event, “Celebrating Change,” was organized by the Udayan Shalini Fellowship program. This program focuses on academic excellence and leadership development for deserving and underprivileged girls who are at risk of dropping out of formal education. The biennial gathering brought together selected girls from each chapter for workshops, panel discussions, capacity building, and team activities.

Reflecting on the successful summit, Dr. Kiran Modi, Founder & Managing Trustee of Udayan Care, expressed her pride and gratitude towards all the participants, speakers, partners, and volunteers who contributed to the resounding success of the event. She highlighted the empowerment and inspiration that the underprivileged girls experienced throughout the summit.

The grand finale of the summit showcased the girls divided into 10 groups, with each group assigned a specific topic. Within a span of 24 hours, these groups collaborated and created short plays based on their assigned topics, incorporating the knowledge acquired during panel discussions and speaker sessions. This activity not only reinforced their learning but also provided an enjoyable experience for all participants.

Over the past two decades, the Udayan Shalini Fellowship Program has made a significant impact, expanding from supporting 72 girls in Delhi in 2002 to nearly 13,000 girls across 32 chapters in 13 states of India. This year’s summit brought together approximately 200 Shalinis from different chapters, all united under the theme “Embrace Equity & Evolve.”

The three-day event consisted of various sessions and activities that fostered camaraderie, challenged gender stereotypes, explored gender sensitization, discussed the significance of equity, emphasized mental well-being and resilience, and empowered participants as change agents through decision-making skills and liberal education.

The Celebrating Change Summit 2023 not only empowered the participants but also inspired the creation of a more equitable society. UDAYAN CARE extends its appreciation to all participants, speakers, partners, and volunteers for their valuable contributions to the success of the event.
