COEP Tech University Embarks on a Global Transformation Journey Under New Leadership

The COEP Tech University, one of the premier technical institutions, is set to undergo a transformative journey towards becoming a world-class institution, as announced by Dr. Sunil Bhirud, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor. The Board of Governance (BOG) has formulated a time-bound strategic plan to align the university with global standards.

Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Chairman of the BOG, COEP Tech University, introduced Dr. Sunil Bhirud to the press during a conference held at COEP, Pune. Dr. Chaudhari expressed confidence in Dr. Bhirud’s rich experience, citing his tenure with esteemed institutions like VJTI, Mumbai University, and AICTE.

The university, boasting a robust alumni base of over 45,000 professionals worldwide, aims to actively involve them in its growth. Notable US-based alumni such as Narendra Kale, Ashish Achlerkar, and Rohan Kelkar have expressed their commitment to supporting the university’s progress, contributing not only financially but also through knowledge transfer, research grants, and internship opportunities.

KPMG, a renowned consulting organization, conducted a comprehensive diagnostic report on COEP Tech University, outlining recommendations for transformation. Key focus areas include enhancing student experiences, adopting a multidisciplinary approach, and improving infrastructure to ensure high-quality engineering education. Dr. Chaudhari emphasized the importance of collaborations with industry partners to foster entrepreneurship, innovation, and research, along with integrating digital technology into the curriculum.

The university has recently secured significant funding for nation-building projects, garnering praise from Dr. Chaudhari. Additionally, partnerships with institutions like the Gokhale Institute of Political Science and Economics signify the university’s commitment to holistic education. Dr. Bhirud highlighted the success of the collaboration, where professors from Gokhale Institute conduct Engineering Economics classes, garnering enrollment from various engineering streams.

In a forward-looking move, COEP Tech University is venturing into public policy education. Dr. Chaudhari revealed plans to sign an MoU with Flame University to educate engineering students about public policy. Simultaneously, COEP faculty will impart knowledge of emerging technologies like AI and ML to Flame University students, creating a symbiotic exchange of expertise.

As COEP Tech University gears up for a global transformation, these strategic initiatives aim to elevate the institution to new heights, ensuring it remains at the forefront of technical education and innovation.
