‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ Campaign at PCDA (SC), Pune: A Salute to Martyred Braveheart Men and Women

Pune, 10th August 2023: On August 9, 2023, the Office of PCDA (SC) Pune resonated with the spirit of patriotism as it hosted the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign, a significant initiative under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Rajeev Chavan, IDAS, ndc, Pr.CDA (SC), Pune, who served as the chief guest for the occasion. A monumental tribute to the martyred heroes who laid down their lives for the nation, this campaign aims to honor their sacrifices and inspire a renewed sense of unity and national pride.

The ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 103rd edition of Mann Ki Baat, broadcast on July 30, 2023. Its purpose is to pay homage to the fearless freedom fighters and individuals who played a pivotal role in India’s struggle for independence. The campaign stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication and the monumental impact they had in freeing India from the clutches of foreign rule.

Suhana Arif, AAO, took on the role of coordinator and convener of the ceremony, welcoming Dr. Rajeev Chavan, IDAS, ndc, Pr.CDA (SC), Pune, with a floral bouquet. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp (Deep Prajwalan) in the central hall, signifying the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of knowledge and enlightenment. Dr. Rajeev Chavan, along with other esteemed IDAS officers, participated in this symbolic act, marking the significance of the event.

The proceedings continued with the administration of an “Oath” (Shapath) through the Panch Pran pledge. This solemn vow, delivered in both Hindi and English, affirmed the commitment to building a Developed India by 2047. The pledge encompassed shedding the mindset of subjugation, cherishing cultural heritage, fostering unity, fulfilling civic duties, and showing the utmost respect to the defenders of the nation.

In his keynote address, Dr. Rajeev Chavan, IDAS, ndc, PCDA (SC), Pune, paid a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs and brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for the noble cause of India’s freedom. He emphasized the essence of making India self-reliant (Atmanirbhar) by reducing dependence on external sources and cultivating a spirit of unity and inclusivity. Dr. Chavan vehemently advocated against all forms of discrimination, inequality, violence, and hatred, stressing the importance of upholding India’s diverse traditions and values.

The Chief Guest implored the audience to uphold the spirit of nationalism and fraternity, urging them to undertake actions that foster bonds of kinship, friendship, and comradeship among all citizens. He highlighted the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign as an innovative initiative of national significance, aimed at nurturing patriotism and nurturing a profound sense of national identity.

To mark this auspicious occasion, PCDA (SC), Pune, unveiled transformative initiatives, including the renaming of the ‘Lotus Garden’ as ‘Amrit Vatika,’ symbolizing renewal and growth. The compound wall will be adorned with vibrant colors, depicting the theme of Independence, by local artists from Pune’s art schools. Additionally, the premises will feature murals, statues, and frescoes that pay homage to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.

The campaign encompasses various initiatives such as establishing memorial plaques, creating murals and frescoes, and setting up “Shilaphalakams” to honor the memory of freedom fighters and security forces. The “Vasudha Vandan” and “Veeron ka Vandan” endeavors aim to unite the nation by collecting soil from different parts of the country, which will be placed at the newly christened ‘Amrit Vatika.’

Promoting environmental conservation, PCDA (SC), Pune, champions the cause of ecosystem protection and preservation. Dr. Rajeev Chavan urged everyone to participate in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative by hoisting the Tricolor at their homes, reflecting a deep-seated commitment to making India a thriving global power.

The event culminated at “Amrit Vatika” with a heartfelt tribute to statues of prominent figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Additionally, to promote environmental stewardship, 75 saplings will be planted across various locations in Pune city by the families of DAD employees.

In a final gesture of unity and camaraderie, the program concluded with Madhu Gandhi extending gratitude and hosting an “Amrit Thal” lunch, epitomizing the essence of unity and solidarity. The ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign at PCDA (SC), Pune, stands as a powerful tribute to India’s braveheart men and women, igniting the flame of patriotism and inspiring citizens to contribute to the nation’s progress.
