Defence Job Aspirant Apprehended for Cheating: Another Case of Fake Candidate in BRO Exam

The pursuit of defense jobs has always attracted the attention of young individuals, but the road to success is paved with challenges. While most aspirants put in hard work and dedication to crack the tough examinations, a small fraction resort to dishonest means, only to face the consequences later.

In yet another incident, a 22-year-old defense job aspirant was arrested by the Vishrantwadi police for cheating on Friday. The accused had arranged for a fake candidate to appear on his behalf in the MSW Cook Group C examination conducted by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at BRO School and Centre in Dhanori. This incident is not an isolated case, as four similar instances were reported earlier this year at the Vishrantwadi police station.

The accused, identified as Pushpendra Kumar Kisanlal, hailing from Sadabad in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, had managed to clear the written and physical exams with the assistance of a proxy candidate.

However, during the document verification process, a BRO security staff noticed that the photograph on Kisanlal’s admit card did not match his actual appearance. Suspecting foul play, officials reviewed CCTV footage from previous exams and discovered that a different individual had appeared for both exams in place of Kisanlal.

Acting on a complaint filed by S.N. Verma, assistant engineer of the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) at BRO, the police apprehended Kisanlal. He was charged under sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Sub-inspector Nitin Rathore of Vishrantwadi police station, who is leading the investigation, stated, “Kisanlal was caught during the document verification process. We have arrested him and are currently searching for the proxy candidate. We expect to apprehend him soon.”

Senior police inspector Dattaray Bhapkar commented, “This is the fourth such case where aspirants have employed proxy candidates to take government exams on their behalf. Such shortcuts not only ruin the future of the aspirants but also jeopardize the prospects of the dummy candidates.”

“We are thoroughly investigating the matter, and stringent action will be taken against those responsible,” Bhapkar added.

Previous Incidents: On June 5, the police arrested Anirjay Yadav, 21, for using a proxy candidate to take the exams at BRO School and Centre.

Similarly, last month, the police apprehended Shailendra Singh (24) from Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly sending a fake candidate to appear in the written exam for the position of “multi-skilled worker and driller” at BRO School and Centre.

Following an investigation into the matter, the police arrested another individual, identified as Deep Kumar (23) from Sitamarhi, Bihar, who had acted as the proxy candidate in the exam.
