Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar, June 29 (UNI) The festival of sacrifice, Eid-al-Adha or ‘Bakri Eid, is being celebrated with traditional fervour and enthusiasm by the Muslim community across the eight districts of Marathwada region on Thursday.

In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city, large numbers of Muslim brothers dressed up in their traditional attire attended special prayers at more than 100 masjids and idgahs in and around the city, including main prayers at Idgahs at Chavani, Rouzabagh, and Osmanapura areas.

Meanwhile, sources from the rest of the districts said that the festival was celebrated with equal favour and devotion.

The police have made elaborate security arrangements in the city to ensure a peaceful celebration of the festival.

Governor of Maharashtra, Ramesh Bais, including the leaders of different political parties and social organisations extended Eid greetings to the Muslim fraternity on this occasion.

Meanwhile, in many places, the Muslim community has decided to postpone the goat sacrifice till tomorrow (Friday), as the Hindu festival Ashadi Ekadasi is also falling on Thursday.
