Serious Consequences: Culpable Homicide Case Registered Against Well Owner and Contractor in Pune’s Mhsobawadi Incident

Pune: Culpable homicide case has been registered against well owner Girish Vijay Kshirsagar and contractor Vishwas Gaikwad in connection with the death of labourers in a well accident at Mhasobawadi informed assistant police inspector Dilip Pawar. Girish Kshirsagar, the owner of the well has been arrested in this case.

During the construction of the ring of the well at Mhsobawadi the mound of the soil collapsed and four labourers Javed Akbar Mulani, Somnath Laxman Gaikwad, Parshuram Bansilal Chavan, Laxman Maruti Sawant were buried under it. The information about the incident was received on Tuesday night. As soon as the Bhigwan police station received the information they immediately informed all the adminstrative agencies and started searching for the labourers.

The NDRF team was called from Pune for rescue. Even after several attempts the administration was unable to rescue the workers alive and the bodies of all the four labourers were found by the rescue and search team which lasted for nearly 70 hours. The relatives protested in front of the ambulance where the body was kept and demanded justice. They demanded that the well owners and contractors should be arrested.

The police administration and the revenue administration assured to take action against the culprits after protest by the relatives. In this regard the Bhigwan police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the well owner Girish Kshirsagar and Vishwas Gaikwad the contract taker of the ring for causing the death of labourers by not using any kind of safety measures and knowing that the lives of labourers may be in danger while working.
