PIMPRI: There was fighting at Anand Nagar slum near Chinchwad station. A youth who had been seriously injured during fighting, died while undergoing treatment on Friday. The youth’s relatives took his body outside the DCP office demanding strict action against the culprits. The last rites took place after the police promised them that suitable action will be taken.
The deceased has been identified as Naresh alias Krishna Bhandari, a resident of Anand Nagar slum, Chinchwad station. According to the police, there was fighting between two groups at Anand Nagar slum on August 25. Some vehicles were also vandalised. Naresh Bhandari was hit on the head with a sharp weapon and he was seriously injured. Cross complaints were registered at the Chinchwad police station.
Meanwhile, Naresh Bhandari died during treatment on September 1 (Friday). His relatives and slum residents brought his body outside the DCP office in Chinchwad. They demanded strict action against the culprits. This also led to a traffic jam on the highway. The police assured them that action will be taken. Later, the body was taken to Anand Nagar and a huge crowd had gathered. The police had also deployed many personnel at the spot.
