The co-accused, Amol Kale, in the Dr Narendra Dabholkar murder case has not been named in the charge sheet as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found no proof against him.
This was revealed by the then CBI Investigation Officer (IO) SR Singh.
Singh was cross-examined in the court on Monday. He was asked whether the firearm and the motorcycle provided by Kale had been traced; whether Kale’s connections were examined; whether Kale had undergone brain-mapping; whether his psychological test was done, etc.
The Dr Dabholkar murder case trial resumed after four months. A charge sheet has been filed against Dr Virendrasinh Tawde, Sachin Andure, Sharad Kalaskar, Adv Sanjeev Punalekar and Vikram Bhave.

The CBI had arrested Amol Kale, Amit Degvekar and Rajesh Bangera as the suspects. Defence lawyer Adv Prakash Salshingikar cross-examined Singh. When Singh was asked whether Kale had provided the firearm and the motorcycle, he replied, “Yes.” Then he was asked whether he searched for the mobike and the pistol, Singh replied, “No.”
Singh was also asked if he had investigated Kale’s connections; if Kale’s financial sources were checked; whether Kale underwent psychological tests, etc. Singh said that Kale was not ready to undergo such a test and he did not cooperate in the investigation.
Finally, Singh said that since there was no proof against Kale, his name was not included in the charge sheet. The cross-examination would continue.
