Pune: Vomit of whale seized from man in Deccan Gymkhana area; Its value in international market is ₹5 crore

PUNE: The police arrested a person who was ready to sell the vomit of whale in Deccan Gymkhana area. The whale vomit has been seized from him and the cost in the international market is ₹5 crore, the police said. The accused has been identified as Vishwanath Ratan Gaikwad (38), a resident of Katraj.

An FIR has been registered against him under the provisions of the Wildlife Act. Police Naik Sachin Gaikwad received information that a man was waiting near Goodluck Cafe and was preparing to sell the vomit of whale. The police laid a trap and arrested Gaikwad after they came to know the whale vomit is highly valued in the international market.

When Gaikwad’s bag was checked, whale vomit was found in it. The police immediately informed the guard in the Bhamburda Forest Department, Krishna Hake. When Hake checked the bag, he confirmed that it was the vomit of the whale. The vomit of the whale has been seized and its value is ₹5 crore in the international market.

CP Ritesh Kumar, Jt CP Sandeep Karnik, Additional CP Pravin Kumar Patil, DCP Sandeep Singh Gill, ACP Vasant Kunwar guided Sr PI Bipin Hasabnis, PSI Mahesh Bhosle, Dattatray Sawant, Borse, Dhanashree Supekar, Sachin Gaikwad, Rohit Pathrut, Mahesh Kale, Dhanaji Mali, Dashrath Gabhale in taking the action.

The vomit of the whale is used in preparation of beauty products and perfumes. A huge price is paid in the international market for it. The vomit of the whale floats on the beach and looks like a rock.
