Police carry out checking of 1,593 criminals, 393 criminals searched

PUNE: The Pune police carried out a combing operation and enforced naka bandi against the background of increasing crimes in the city and Somwati Amavasya (Gatari Amavasya). Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar and Joint CP Sandeep Karnik were on the field and checked the action being taken by police officials. The police carried out the combing operation from 6 pm on Sunday till 6 am on Monday.

The combing operation was carried out by all police stations in Pune and the Crime Branch. During the operation, teams of police officials and policemen and Crime Branch officials were formed. The teams carried out combing operation and checking in various areas of the city.

Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar had issued instructions about carrying out a combing operation in the limits of Pune police commissionerate and checking criminals and taking preventive action. He had also instructed officials to carry out checks at hotels, lodges, dhabas, ST and bus stands, railway stations and question suspicious people at public places. During this operation, 1,593 criminals were checked and 393 criminals were found.

A naka bandi was carried out at 32 places in the limits of Pune police commissionerate. During the operation, 2,331 vehicles were checked and 134 hotels, lodges and guest houses were checked. Two hundred and fifty seven absconding and wanted accused and 228 externed criminals were checked. During the naka bandi, 3,943 suspicious drivers were checked and action was taken against 767 people and a fine of ₹6.92 lakh was recovered. During the combing operation, action was taken in 29 cases under Arms Act, Prohibition Act, Maharashtra Police Act and Gambling Act and 38 people were arrested.

The action was taken on the orders issued by CP Ritesh Kumar and under guidance of Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Pravinkumar Patil, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende, DCP Sandeep Singh Gill, DCP Smartana Patil, DCP Suhail Sharma, DCP Shashikant Borate, DCP Vikrant Deshmukh, DCP (Traffic) Vijayakumar Magar by officials and policemen of Crime Branch, Traffic Department and officials and policemen of all police stations in a joint operation.
