Pune, 10th July 2023: The Crime Branch Unit of Pune City Police has successfully dismantled a racket engaged in the duplication and sale of branded products, including toners, cartridges, outer boxes, ink bottles, holograms, and toys. The accused operated from various shops spread across the city.
According to the police, the racket involved the production of counterfeit toys and study materials imitating the Disney company’s products. These counterfeit items were then sold under the guise of being genuine branded products from three shops: Trupti Traders, Prem Toys, and Ganesh Traders, all located in the Ravivar Peth area.
Similarly, the accused were involved in duplicating toner cartridges, ink bottles, holograms, and other products of renowned brands such as Samsung and Canon. These counterfeit items were being sold in the market through shops located in Shukrawar Peth, falsely presented as authentic branded products.
Acting on the information received about these illegal activities, the police conducted raids at multiple locations across the city. During the raids, they seized counterfeit materials with an estimated value of Rs 28 lakh.
Two separate cases have been registered in connection with this matter at Faraskhana Police Station and Khadk Police Station under relevant sections of the law. The police are currently conducting further investigations to gather more evidence and identify all individuals involved in the racket.
Counterfeiting of branded products not only poses a significant threat to the reputation and financial interests of legitimate companies but also endangers consumer safety. The Pune City Police’s successful crackdown on this racket demonstrates their commitment to combatting such illegal activities and protecting the rights of both consumers and businesses.
