Pune Police arrest youth from Nana Peth for stealing mobiles; Police seize 29 mobiles worth ₹5 lakh

PUNE: The Pune city police carried out a combing operation from 10 pm on Monday to 2 am on Tuesday. During the combing operation, the Samarth police have arrested a youth for stealing mobiles from the fish market in Nana Peth The police have seized 29 mobiles worth ₹5.09 lakh from him.

The accused has been identified as Kundan Kumar Arjun Mahanto (25), hailing from Jharkhand and staying in Mumbai. When the combing operation of Pune police was going on, Havaldar Rohidas Waghire and Havaldar Jitendra Pawar got the information that a youth was moving around in a suspicious manner in the fish market in Nana Peth.

After verifying the information, the police apprehended the youth. When he was questioned, he admitted stealing mobiles of customers and selling them in other states. When the police searched him, the police found 29 smart phones worth ₹5.09 lakh and they have been seized.

CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Pravinkumar Patil, DCP Sandeep Singh Gill, ACP Ashok Dhumal, Sr PI Suresh Shinde and PI Pramod Waghmare guided PSI Sunil Randive, API Dattaraya Bhosle, Havaldar Rohidas Waghire, Jitendra Pawar, Ganesh Waikar, Pramod Jagtap, Police Naik Rahim Shaikh, policeman Kalyan Borade, Amol Shinde, Sharad Ghorpade, Sandeep Pawar, Dnyaneshwar Suryawanshi and Hemant Perne in taking the action.
