Pune: A newly-wed woman who was visiting her parents’ house at Kasurdi village in Daund taluka of the district was struck by lightning and died on Tuesday (June 11).
According to Police Patil Ashwini Sonawane, Suhani Tushar Tammanar (22), a resident of Vishrantwadi, was visiting her parents’ house after her marriage. Her father Sudam Dagdu Thombre, along with other members of the family, was working in their field. Suhani was accompanying them. Weather was cloudy but it was not raining. Around 4.30 pm, suddenly a thunderstorm started, along with heavy lightning. Even before they could realise, a bolt of lightning struck Suhani and she collapsed. Her family members rushed her to a private hospital in Uruli Kanchan. However, she died before treatment.
Married a year ago
Suhani got married last year. Her in-laws and husband stay in Vishrantwadi. She was visiting her parents for her cousin’s marriage. She visited their field, along with her brother, to fetch fodder for cattle when the incident happened.
