Pune: In a heart warming display of efficiency and modern policing, officers from Mundhwa Police Station swiftly reunited a missing girl with her mother within an hour, leveraging the power of social media for effective communication and coordination.
Under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi, Mundhwa Police Station has embraced technology as a tool for enhancing responsiveness to community needs. A dedicated WhatsApp group comprising officers and personnel from the station facilitates prompt resolution of outpost complaints, emergency calls received through dial 112, and coordination for maintaining law and order within the station’s jurisdiction.
The incident unfolded on March 1 when the Keshavnagar Bit Marshal received a distress call from a concerned citizen near SNBP School in the Manjri area. The caller reported finding a fourteen-year-old girl in the Siddhi Building parking space. Without wasting time, the Bit Marshal promptly responded to the call, ensuring the safety of the girl and swiftly notifying the authorities.
Upon receiving the information, a photo of the girl was shared on the Mundhwa Police Station’s WhatsApp group, enabling seamless communication among officers. Simultaneously, a worried mother arrived at the police station to report her daughter missing.
Police Sub-Inspector Shubhangi Magadum immediately coordinated efforts, instructing the concerned parties to exchange photos for confirmation. Within moments, it was established that the girl found by the Bit Marshal matched the description of the missing girl reported by her mother.
With commendable efficiency, Mundhwa police orchestrated the reunion of the missing girl with her mother within a mere hour of receiving the initial report. This action was taken by Sub-Inspector of Police Shubhangi Magdum, Police Commissioner Sachin Adsul, Pravin Kokane, and Snehal Shinde under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi.
