Pune: Man dies by suicide after fed up of harassment by illegal money lender

PUNE: A man died by suicide after harassment by an illegal money lender in Kirkitwadi in Sinhagad Road area. An FIR has been registered against three people at the Haveli police station.

The deceased has been identified as Nilesh Jangam, a resident of Kirkitwadi on Sinhagad Road. An FIR has been registered against Suhas Dandekar, Govind Maruti Bhople and Varsha Govind Bhople for indulging in illegal money lending.

Nilesh Jangam’s wife has lodged a complaint at the Haveli police station. A note written by Nilesh Jangam before he took the extreme step, has been seized by the police. Jangam’s friend Govind Bhople had told him that they should start a business together. Bhople had borrowed ₹3.5 lakh on behalf of Jangam from Dandekar, who is an illegal money lender. Bhople instead of starting a business, spent the money.

Jangam asked him to return the money but Bhople and his wife gave evasive answers. Dandekar started harassing Jangam to recover his money.
Jangam’s wife stated in the complaint lodged at the Haveli police station that her husband died by suicide because Dandekar abused and threatened him and he was fed up.

Officer Anmol Mittal of Haveli police station is guiding PSI Sheetal Thembe in carrying out a probe.
