Pune: Individual Murdered Over Earlier Animosity in Hadapsar; Police Apprehended Accused Within Two Days

Pune: Hadapsar police have successfully apprehended the accused in the heinous murder crime that took place in the open space in front of Rhythm Society in Handewadi, Hadapsar, five days ago. The accused had killed one person by beating him on the head and body. This incident took place on May 12 at around eight in the evening.

The name of the murdered individual was Rajendra Rambhau Shejul (35), a resident of Undri and an original hailing from the Buldhana district of Maharashtra. Whereas, the accused has been identified as Rajesh Sitaram Sonkar (25), a resident of Katraj. In this case, the deceased Rajendra’s wife, Bhagyashree Rajendra Shejul (29) had filed a complaint at Hadapsar police station two days ago.

Following the complaint, when police started the investigation, they learned that the deceased Rajendra Shejul was addicted to alcohol. Furthermore, police also learned that drunkards in the neighbouring areas often drink alcohol where the body of the deceased Rajendra was found. From these clues, the police got the information that on the day of the murder of Rajendra Shejul, he had an argument with the accused, Rajesh Sonkar.

Accordingly, police traced the accused, Rajesh Sonkar, who does the work as POP labour, and detained him in the Katraj area. Upon further interrogation, Sonkar confessed his crime. He informed that on May 11, when he was drinking alcohol with Rajendra Shejul at around eleven in the morning, he asked for 100 rupees from Shejul. At that time, Shejul abused and beat him with his hand.

Enraged by this, Sonkar decided to kill Shejul, and accordingly, he killed Shejul on Tuesday in the open space in front of the Rhythm Society by beating him with wooden bamboo.

This action was taken by the team of Assistant Police Inspector Arjun Kudale, Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kawle, Police Commissioners Sushil Lonkar, Sandeep Rathod, Sameer Pandule, Sachin Jadhav, Prashant Dudhal, Nikhil Pawar, Prashant Tonpe, Bhagwan Humbarde, Ajit Madane, Amol Danke, Chandrakant Rejitwad, Sachin Gorkhe, Amit Sakhre, Kundlik Keskar, Ramdas Jadhav, Anirudh Sonwane, and Amol Jadhav.

Furthermore, the insights of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar, Additional Commissioner of Police East Regional Division Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police R. Raja, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashwini Rakh, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhre, Police Inspector Crime Mangal Modwe, and Police Inspector Crime Umesh Gitte also prove useful in this detention of the accused.
