Pune: The manager of Hotel Quality Restaurant on Motilal Road in Sangamwadi has been accused of orchestrating a cunning scam, resulting in a loss of Rs 9 lakh, 3 thousand, and 641 for the hotel owner, Abhijit Tulshiram Kadam. The manager, identified as Amol Mohan Raj of Shantinagar, Wanwadi, allegedly manipulated the hotel’s financial records between November 2022 and December 2022.
The fraud came to light when Kadam, a 38-year-old resident of Tukai Darshan, Bhekrainagar, Hadapsar, filed a complaint with the Bundagarden police. A case has been registered against Amol Raj under sections IPC 408, IPC 420, and IT Act 66D.
According to police reports, the accused, who had been serving as the manager of Hotel Quality Restaurant, deceitfully diverted the bill payments made by customers into his personal account instead of depositing the funds into the hotel’s official bank account. To cover his tracks, Raj allegedly sent false cell reports to the hotel owner, further exacerbating the deceit.
The assistant police inspector in charge of the ongoing investigation stated that the accused exploited the trust placed in him by the hotel owner to syphon off a substantial amount of money. The fraudulent activities were carried out over a two-month period, leaving Kadam at a loss of over 9 lakh rupees.
Bundagarden police are conducting further investigation into the case.
