Pune: FIR registered against seven persons for making obscene comments on Facebook about Rupali Chakankar

PUNE: Seven people have got into trouble after making obscene comments about the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, Rupali Chakankar, on Facebook and YouTube. An FIR has been registered at the Cyber police station against the seven people. Five people had made obscene comments about Chakankar when NCP MP Supriya Sule was speaking at the Nashik meeting of Sharad Pawar. The police have registered the FIR under sections 354A, 509 of the IPC and section 67 of the IT Act.

Yuvraj Vilas Chavan (31), a resident of Dhayari, has lodged a complaint at the Cyber police station. The complainant works in the PR office of Chakankar and also looks after social media. The complaint lodged by Chavan states that on July 6 from 2pm to 5pm, when Rupali Chakankar was doing Facebook live, two people made objectionable comments.

On July 8, NCP President Sharad Pawar held a meeting in Nashik. At that time, when MP Supriya Sule was speaking, a live transmission was on the YouTube channel of a TV channel. At that time, some people made objectionable comments. Based on the complaint lodged by Yuvraj Chavan, the police have registered an FIR against seven persons. The Cyber police are carrying out further investigation.
