PUNE: Cyber thieves are using new techniques to cheat the common man and now, they have prepared a fake message of traffic fines and it has been made viral on social media. The Traffic Police have issued a warning that commuters should not respond to such a message and beware of thieves.
Cyber thieves use novel techniques to cheat the common man. Various inducements like cheap two-wheelers, household goods, online tasks, and job offers are used to trap the people. There has been an increase in cyber crimes in last few years. The pending dues of commuters violating rules is huge. Taking this into account, cyber thieves have now started sending a fake message of traffic fines. A link has been sent with the message. The words have been changed in the link and there is a possibility of people being cheated if they open the link.
DCP (Traffic) Vijaykumar Magar said, “An official message is sent by the police regarding the pending dues related to traffic violations. There is no photo in the message. The thieves have sent a link with the message and words have been interchanged. Citizens should not respond to such messages.”
Senior PI of Cyber police station Minal Supe-Patil said that cyber thieves cheat people after luring them with various promises. They should not trust the messages sent on social media.
DCP (Traffic) Vijaykumar Magar said, “After a fake message was sent by cyber thieves about pending dues, Cyber police station was informed. Citizens should not respond to the fake message and if they come across such messages, they should lodge a complaint with the police.”
