PUNE: Questions were raised about the functioning of Pune police after drug smuggler Lalit Patil fled from the Sassoon Hospital. The Pune police are in the action mode after this incident. A few days ago, they arrested two girlfriends of Lalit Patil in Nashik for helping him. Now, the Pune police have arrested Rosary School Director Vinay Aranha for his involvement in Lalit Patil’s escape from the hospital.
The Director of Rosary Education Group, Vinay Aranha, had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and at present, he is in the Yerawada Jail. However, he was undergoing treatment in Sassoon Hospital under the guise of sickness.
It came to light that he had helped Lalit Patil to escape from the Sassoon Hospital. Later, the Pune police had sought custody of Vinay Aranha to probe the matter. The court allowed the Pune police to take Vinay Aranha into their custody. The Pune police took Vinay Aranha into their custody from the Yerawada Jail and he was later arrested.
