Pune: Dehu road Police Make Major Bust! Seize Illegal Gutkha Worth Over 11 Lakhs

Pune: In a significant action, Dehu Road police successfully seized illegal gutkha products, which are banned in Maharashtra. In the action taken on Tuesday, January 23, the police seized a stash of Gutkha products worth 11 lakh, 48 thousand, and 341 rupees and detained the prime accused.

On Tuesday, Dehu Road Police got information about the storage of banned Gutkha products at House number 125 on Main Bazaar Road. Upon the confirmation of the information, Dehu Road police conducted raids on the location and subsequently seized banned Gutkha products worth Rs 11 lakh, 48 thousand, and 341.

In the subsequent action, police detained the prime accused, Riyaz Aziz Shaikh, for illegal stockpiling of banned gutkha products. Accordingly, police lodged a complaint against Shaikh under sections 26(2)(i) and 26(2) of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, including IPC 328, 272, 273, and 188. The person was detained under 27(3)(d), 27(3)(e), 30(2)(a), and 59.

In this case, Police Sub-Inspector Bhandare is conducting further investigation.
