Pune: Cyber police arrest registered agent of Easy Pay Private Limited Company for cheating firm of ₹3.5 crore

PUNE: The cyber police have arrested a registered agent of Easy Pay Private Limited from West Bengal for cheating the company of ₹3.5 crore. The police have seized a mobile and two laptops from him.

The accused has been identified as Ankit Kumar Ashok Pandey (20), a resident of West Bengal and hailing from Bihar. Easy Pay Private Limited Company, located at Yerawada, is involved in providing online payment services all over India to citizens. The company has appointed registered agents throughout the country and the company carries out its work through them. On August 11, 2022, 65 agents in collusion used different mobiles and illegally made use of technical facilities of the company by logging into the website to cheat the company.

From the company’s VPA account, they transferred agents’ commission of ₹3.52 crore to 44 bank accounts and cheated the company. Hence, the company had lodged a complaint against them at Pune cyber police station and an FIR had been registered against the agents for cheating and under other sections.

The cyber police started the probe after the FIR was registered. They carried out a technical analysis of the accused Ankit Kumar Ashok Pande’s mobile and got information about him. When they came to know that he was in Delhi, a team went to Delhi. After going there, the team came to know that the accused was in West Bengal. The cyber police team went to West Bengal. The team came to know that he was changing his location frequently. The police collected detailed information about him and surrounded his residence and arrested him. After bringing him to Pune, he was produced in the court and he was remanded to police custody till July 19, 2023.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Shriniwas Ghadge, ACP Appasaheb Shewale by Sr PI Minal Supe Patil, PSI Tushar Patil, policemen Rajkumar Jaba, Balasaheb Karale, Navnath Jadhav, Nilesh Landge, Bapu Lonkar, Shahrukh Shaikh, Sandesh Karne, Nitin Chandne and Santosh Jadhav.
